1. What do you find most interesting about what he says on these pages? What stands out as particularly useful to you as a storyteller?
What I found was that stories should have some natural sound and that it is good to have natural sound it enhances the story. Also I found interesting was you should have soundbites that give that lump in your throat. They should make you happy, sad and or mad. But they should become a memory to the audience. pictures should come in a story to give you an idea of what to write about

2. What is the name of the story, and on what date did it first air?

  • Land of 1000 stories :Race for the cure
  • Land of 1000 stories:police chief lights up social media

3. List and describe four instances of natural sound.

  • The sounds of everyone talking while walking during the race
  • A band in the background
  • the sound of the wind while they walk

  • people talking to the police guy in the background
  • sound of cars passing by

4. List and describe (including the type and what they are showing) four camera shots that you find interesting.

  • Tight shot:shoes of them walking
  • wide shot: everyone walking on the road
  • medium shot: women crying
  • medium shot: the finish line sign

  • medium shot: him waving
  • wide shot of him walking
  • tight shot: of his badge

5. Write a possible focus statement for the story (strong verbs; no “-ing” words)

  • people walk to support cancer
  • Friendly police guy says hi to everyone

6. How does this story utilize Dotson’s “Building Blocks” (from Page 68)? Discuss a few of them, please.

This story uses a lot of natural sound. Showing the racers emotions by hearing the cheering and laughing in the background.
Also there was some silence involved when a lady was telling the story of her mom and the lady began to cry and felt very emotional. That silence made sure to capture the emotions the lady was feeling and she was able to let them out by having that silence. Also graphics were shown. Pictures of people who of died of breast cancer in the hospital or people that have survived and where they are now.
